Zucchini is a mild flavor summer squash annual vegetable full of nutrients. It is low in calories. It is used for many things: breads, soups, salads, salads, stirs – fry’s. It grows well in hot dry summer areas, with enriched soil. The plant produces both male and female flowers. It needs bees or hand pollination to produce fruits. It needs a lot of sun to grow well and plenty of space.
GROWING ZUCCHINI FROM SEEDS IN CONTAINERS
Growing zucchini from seeds is very easy. Start by spreading the seeds directly into the garden once the soil has warmed to at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit or start them indoors 3–4 weeks before the last frost.
When planting, a single zucchini plant, get a container that holds at least 10 gallon of soil. Zucchini likes to stay in one place. It has sensitive, brittle root systems that can easily go into shock or die when transfer. The only time it can be transplanted when the plant is when the new plant has 3 true leaves and the risk of frost has passed. If you realize your container is too small, move it to a bigger planter as early as possible.
Take the container fill it up with potted soil; Spread the seeds about an inch deep. If you’re planting in rows, space them 36 inches apart to allow for their sprawling leaves. Cover the seeds with a layer of compost.
Plant 2–3 seeds in a small mound or hill then thin the plant. Leave the strongest seedling up. Keep the soil moist all the time. Zucchini likes a lot of water. Use soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Zucchini needs 8 hours of sun daily. Place the plant in a sunny place. Watch it grow. Enjoy it. It will take 60 days for the plant to be fully grown.
HARVESTING ZUCCHINI
Zucchini can grow to be very large vegetable. It can double in size in just 24 hours. harvest zucchini when they are 6 to 8 inches long. If left in the plant it will continue to grow. If you harvest the plant will continue to give more zucchinis during the whole season. Zucchini has large leaves. It can grow to be 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
