HOW TO GROW ZUCCINE FROM SEEDS
Zucchini is a dark green elongated vegetable that grows annually. It is a nutrient – rich vegetable. It has vitamins A, C, K, potassium, magnesium, and fiber. It helps to improve eye health, and digestion, Eating zucchini helps to lower the risk of developing heart diseases. It is used in soups, to make desserts, and many dishes.
Start growing Zucchini plants by taking a large 4 inches wide and 4 inches deep container full of soil. Add a thick layer of compost. Moist the soil well. Place the seeds in water and soak them for a couple of hours before planting them. Plant 1 seed per container about 1 inch deep and flat, in the container with the soil temperature in the 60 degrees Fahrenheit. keep them moist place them in a sunny area. Start them indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last spring frosting. Keep them moist.
The seeds will germinate after 2 weeks. The plant will have big leaves after 4 weeks and ready to be transfer to the ground or to a bigger containers. Zucchini likes a lot of sun and to be moist all the time.
Zucchini can also be planted directly in the ground. Plant the seeds outdoors in the ground in a sunny area with direct sun light for 6 to 8 hours daily as soon as the last spring frost has passed. Keep it moist all the time. Give a layer of compost. Give it 1 inch of water per week.
Zucchini plant will continue to grow. The leaves keep growing and cover the fruit. keep a watch for pests like squash vine borers, a small worm that will eat the zucchini from inside out, and mildew.
WHEN TO HARVEST ZUCCHINI
Pick the fruit from the zucchini plant when it is 6 to 8 inches long and it is tender after 60 days. If the fruit is left in the plant too long the fruit will become too long, too seedy, the taste of the fruit will changed and it will stop producing fruit. The plant will continue to produce fruit as long as you take the fruit. Enjoy it.
