HOW TO GROW WATERCRESS FROM SEEDS
Watercress is a perennial leafy aquatic plant that grows well in water and very moist soil. It likes water very much. It is very easy to grow watercress as long as it stays moist all the time and it is not allowed to get dry. It can be used in shakes, salads, soups. It can be eaten raw or cooked.
HOW TO PLANT THE SEEDS
Choose a container that is deep 6 to 8 inches deep. Fill it with soil to the top. Add the watercress seeds on top. Add a layer of compost. Press down the seeds gently. The container needs to sit in a deep saucer filled with water. Once the seeds are added take the container and place in a larger container filled with a 2 to 3 inches of water. Keep the water in the large container. Place the new plant in a cool sunny place. It will need 6 hours of sun daily. It could stay in a shady place. It will do fine. The plant needs to be moist all the time wet not soggy. just very moist. If you put some of the soil in your hand and close your hand no water should drip. It likes 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit. It does best in cool, moist climates
WHEN DOES WATERCRESS GERMINATE?
Watercress seeds germinate after 7 to 14 days. The new seedlings grow very fast as long as they are moist all the time. After they grow for 3 inches they can be harvested. After 6 weeks you can start cutting the leaves. The more you cut the leaves the more they will grow. You will have watercress the whole season. watch them grow enjoy them.
