HOW TO GROW THYME FROM SEEDS

Thyme is an easy perennial herb to grow. It will get woody if you left it be. Thyme likes warm and sun. It is a small short plant. It likes to be dry. It could be used as a border. You can also plant thyme with other plants like sage, dill rosemary, garlic. Plant thyme around those plants and they will do very well. Thyme will protect the plant and attract good insects. Insects that help protect your garden from pests like cabbage warms, flea beetles, hawk moth which is the moth that attacks tomatoes. Thyme also needs to be trimmed so it doesn’t become woody.

HOW TO PLANT FROM SEEDS

Take a container fill it up with well drained soil with compost. Keep it moist. Pour the seeds in a glass of water. Let it sit for a few hours. After that, pour the glass of water with the seed on top of the container. Do not cover the seeds. Press them down gently.

Place it is a sunny place. The seeds needs sun to germinate. Thyme likes dry. Water them only when the plant is dry. It will take up to 2 to 4 days to germinate. Cover them with a plastic cover. Once they sprout take off the plastic. That will prevent fungus to grow.

Thyme is an anti – inflammatory herb. It helps with respiratory issues like coughing, and nasal congestion. It helps with diarrhea. It also helps with upset stomach. Thyme tea is rich in antioxidants. Thyme can be used as a sleep aid.
