How to take care of your plants indoor?
The new year is here. Happy New year to all the cosmopolitan gardeners. 2022, this coming year is going to be a great year. The weather has been nice in the North East. There is a lot of rain. There is no snow yet. The snow is coming. The soil is getting ready for all the planting you are going to do. Still is winter time. There is very little to do outside. Specially, since you protected and prepared the soil in your garden before the cold weather set in.
Now, the fertilizers in the soil and the leaves are protecting the ground. The earth is replenishing itself and getting ready for the next growing season. Just wait. It is not time to do anything yet.
The focusing now, for these months is in the plants that are inside the house. You have to make sure the plants inside are well taken care.
Keep plants clean. Clen the leaves of your plans. Remove all insects and pests around them. You can clean your plants with soupy water and alcohol. A cotton ball with alcohol will do the cleaning of the plant. The yellow leaves in plants have to be removed. That helps the plant to live longer. If the soil has fungus give the plant less water.
Reduce the amount of water you use on your inside plants. Use warm water. It is cold. Use small amount of water. It is winter. Plants know that. Water them only once a week. Be consistent. Have a routine. Plants get use to that.
Make sure plants are warm. Plants are very sensitive to cold weather. Sealing the windows to make sure the plants stay warm and they don’t get shock with cold weather. They are also sensitive to the hot weather. Keep plants away from radiators. Make sure they have enough light. Move plants closely to the window. Rotate the plants to make sure they get sun light.
Too much heat is also harmful. Make sure plant are far away from radiators and heat units. It is important you avoid extreme temperatures to maintain the good health of your indoor plants.
It is winter time plants don’t need fertilizer now. They are not producing new leaves or stems. Wait for the spring to give them fertilizer.
Humidity helps the plant to stay alive. If possible, put a tray of water with pebbles near the plants. As the water evaporates it creates a more humid climate for the plants. It will help them to live indoors better. Plants need to stay in their pots in the winter. Repotting will be done better in the spring or summer. If plants get repotted in the winter, they get shocked. Plants in the winter are dormant.
