What Herbs do you cook with during summer?
Fresh herbs are synonym of summer. Herbs are aromatic, crispy, soft, tasty, savory. they are used for flavoring garnishing food, medicinal purposes, fragrances. They are grown mainly during the summer months.
As a cosmopolitan gardener you can have a variety of the herbs ready to use right by your side in the kitchen. Depending in how much cooking you do and what foods you like to cook. Herbs add a very distinct flavor to your food. Herbs change the taste of your food from plain food to very tasty food. You can have: basil, oregano, cilantro, dill, thyme, mint, rosemary, Parsley. These herbs seem to be the the most popular.
There are more herbs for example: fennel, chives, tarragon, turmeric, marjoram, yarrow. You can grow anything you like and know how to use it. You can also combine different herbs and bring out their properties and savory.
These herbs are the ones I have in my kitchen. I grew them from seeds and I cook with them. I make pesto wit the basil. Chimichurri with the cilantro and parsley. I use rosemary and thyme when preparing chicken and fish. I love mint tea and mojito drinks. I use oregano in soups and everything I cook. I have small pots around the kitchen and I use them often.
