PROPAGATING PLANTS IN CONTAINERS

HOW TO PROPAGATE ANY PLANT?

As time change and winter set in you want to have some plants to keep growing. Yo can save them indoors and propagating by getting cutting from the desired plant.

Propagating is very easy process. It is a process where you can have another plant by taking a cutting or splitting the plant. The first thing you need is used pair of good sterilized in alcohol scissors, so not to spread any bacteria.

You pick the plant you want to propagate. Look at the plant. Take a cutting of the plant. Pick a young soft stem. It has to have some nodes. Once you have the cutting. Cut the leaves. Just leave a couple of leaves at the top of the stem for photosynthesis. You have a long stem with some nodes. Often the nodes are producing very small new leaves. That is a good new cutting that it will root and create new plants.

Once you have the cutting you can stick the stems in a container fill with soil. Place the cutting in the container. Keep the new cutting consistently moist all the time. It is a good idea to cover them create a small dome. That will provide some heat and humidity and protection to the new cutting and create roots very soon.

You could also place the new cutting in cup of water. It will root after a while. Just keep the container full of water. House plants do very well when you take a cutting with nodes and place in water. The new plant will root within a week and it will be ready to be planted.

Another way to propagate the plants is by splitting the plant. Take the well stablished plant. Take it out of the container. Gentle massage the roots and divide into two plants. You can also cut the roots of the plant with a blade into two parts. keep the plant in a shaded place and keep it very moist at all times.

Take the split plant put in a container and fill it up with soil. Cover it completely. Keep it moist at all time. The new plant will continue to grow and do well. Enjoy it.
