HOW DO YOU PREPARE YOUR GARDEN FOR THE WINTER?
As a cosmopolitan gardener you have to prepare your for garden for the winter. It is time to clean the garden. There a few things you need to do.
1.-Check the health of your plants. Make sure your plants are clear from any fungus and there is no rot. 2.-Treat your soil: Add compost, organic fertilizers such as bone meal, kelp and rock phosphate. Add nutrients to your soil at this time of year. The soil will have time to start breaking down, and become enriching soil and become biologically active. Get rid of all different weeds and remove invasive plants.
3.- Clean your gardening tools. It is time to clean all your tools. Rust could be present in the tools. Remove it.
4.- Clean your plants from any disease. Cut old leaves and any fungus the plants may have. Get rid of overgrowing weeds completely.
5.-Prepare your soil. Add compost, organic fertilizers such as bone meal, kelp and rock phosphate. Add nutrients to your soil at this time of year. The soil will have time to start breaking down, and become enriching soil and become biologically active.
6.- Cut your perennial plants down. Plant your bulbs now to have flowers early in the spring.
7.-Add mulch to your yard. It helps your yard very much during the winter. It will reduce water loss. The mulch regulates the soil temperature as the soil moves to colder temperature.
8.- Get rid of all different weeds and remove invasive plants. That will prevent them from coming back next year.
9.- Check your compost. Make sure it is turned. You can add some leaves to generate the compost. You can also add mulch to your yard. Leave dry leaves as a cover top layer for your yard.
10.- You can evaluate how well your plants did. This is the time you evaluate how well you did this growing season. Some of the season’s successes and failures are due to the weather, but others are within your control. Soil fertility, moisture levels, and plant placement can be controlled.
Como un jardinero cosmoplitano es hora de preparar el jardin para el invierno. Es hora de limpiarlo y hacer ciertas cosa para estar listo para la primavera.
