PARSNIP A RICH TASTY ROOT

Parsnips are cool season biennial root vegetables. they are high in fiber, vitamins C and vitamin K and minerals. They help with digestion, heart condition. They also help to lower blood pressure and cholesterol. Parsnips are considered healthier than potatoes because they have more fiver that potatoes and fewer carbohydrates and low in calories.

HOW TO GROW PARSNIPS FROM SEEDS

Get the parsnips seeds. You can germinate the parsnips seeds before planting them. Take a place paper napkin add some water to wet the napkin. Place the seeds on the wet napkin. Cover the tray with clear plastic to keep them warm. The Parsnips seeds will germinate after 7 to 10 days once they absorber moist. A small root will appear at the base of the seeds. They are ready to be planted outside or in containers as long as the container is very deep. Parsnips grow long. They like a cool sunny place with a temperature of 60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

PLANTING THE PARSNIPS SEEDS IN THE GROUND

Dig a long in the ground. Clear the soil from stones and roots. Plant every seedling 18 inches apart from each other. Place the seedlings 1/2 inch deep. Cover the seedling with a thin layer of compost. Water the seeds. Keep the seeds moist all the time.

After 2 weeks the plants leaves will start to appear. Keep watering them. The parsnips will continue to grow. They can grow to be 3 feet tall. It will take 5 months for the parsnips to be ready to be pull out.

WHEN TO HARVEST PARSNIPS

The roots can be as long as 20 inches. Parsnips can be harvested when the leaves start dying and the root gets big enough it is very visible. They can be pulled out of the ground. They are usually cooked before eaten. They taste a little bit sweet, and a nutty. The leaves are also edible. Enjoy them.
