Chamomile is a calming herb easy to grow. It is a perennial in zones 4-9. It is consider an annual in other areas. It has an apple aroma. It is used as tea and a flavoring in soaps, perfumes and oils. It is also used to help sleeping, digestion, cramps and nausea. It is recommended that pregnant women avoid it.

GROWING CHAMOMILE FROM SEEDS IN CONTAINERS

Growing Chamomile from seeds in containers is very easy. February and March is the best time to grow in Tampa Florida. It can be grown indoors in other places. It can also be grown in the ground and in boxes.

PLANTING CHAMOMILE SEEDS IN CONTAINERS

Chose a well drainage 8 inches pot. Fill it with soil with a PH 6. Add the seeds on top of the soil. Add a thin layer of compost. The seeds need light to germinate with a temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Add some water . It likes to be moist all the time. Place in a sunny place. It needs 8 hours of sun daily. It likes partial shades too. It will take up to 2 weeks for the seeds to germinate. Watch it grow enjoy them.

It takes 10 weeks for Chamomile to reach its full development as a plant. It will grow to be 2 feet tall. It has this beautiful flowers. The flowers are used for tea and flavoring different things. The flowers will open and that is when they are harvested.

HOW TO HARVESTING CHAMOMILE

Chamomile flowers are 1 inch wide with yellow raised centers surrounded by white small petals. They often turn downward. They produce many flowers per stem. Cut the flowers as soon as they open up and the plant will continue to produce flowers the whole season. The more you cut the flowers the more the plant will produce flowers. Enjoy them.
