WHAT ARE BEETS?
Beets are root vegetables. It is a cool annual weather crop. Plant them 8 weeks before the first frost. you can also grow them in the early spring when the temperature is starting to get warmer 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Beets grow all over the world. Beets are pickled, steamed, boiled, fry roasted shredded . They can also be eaten raw in salads. It is also used as a condiment. They are made into soups and it is a drink.
HOW TO GROW BEETS?
Growing beets is very easy. Chose a place where you are going to plant the beets. It should be in a sunny part in the the container. You need loose fertilized soil once you have the space in the container fill it with fertilized soil. The temperature has to be above 50 degrees Fahrenheit 10 degrees Celsius. Place the seeds 1/2 inch deep and 4 inches apart. Cover the seeds with a thick layer o compost. Water the plants. keep the plant wet. Beets love water, Keep the plants wet all the time. Keep the soil very well moist.
WHEN DOBEETS GERMINATE
Beets will start germinating after 2 weeks. The leaves will start to come up after 10 days. After 4 weeks the beet plant will be a foot tall. Beets grow very slow. It will take up to 3 month before you can harvest beets. The leaves grow very big. They are also edible. They are high in nutrition and low in calories. WHEN TO HARVEST BEETS
Beets can gently to be pull out of the ground after 3months. They look like a red big ball with a bunch of green leaves on top. Sometimes they are different colors like white and green beets. They can be store them in containers for a long time. Keep them dry. wet them only when they are ready to eat.
