GARLIC IS A WONDER
Garlic has to be planted in October. During the early cold weather. The seed stays in the ground for a while. It need time to grow roots, foliage, and bulb. It is ready to be harvest in the middle of the summer when it is a full bulb.
As a cosmopolitan gardener you want to grow garlic. It is one of the easiest vegetables to grow. Garlic is a vegetable use primarily as condiment and flavor and many culinary uses in many dishes. soups, meats, casseroles, salads.

It is also very healthy for your body. It is also used for many other reasons as well. It is known to boost your body’s immune system, it reduces high blood pressure. It has even know to reduce cholesterol level. Garlic oils is used as an anti- inflammatory. It works to prevent cartilage damage in your bones, for joins and muscles.
HOW DOES GARLIC GROW?
Garlic is a perennial bulb. It is an herb that is related to onions leeks and chives. Garlic has a particular smell due to a chemical in it called allicin. It is a bulb that has to be planted in the fall and it is harvested in the summer. It needs full sun. The best way to grow garlic is from seeds. You can also grow from bulbs. Garlic like to eat: blood meal, chicken manure, pelleted fertilizer. They like water at the beginning of the planting season. After that they prefer to be dry.
WHERE TO PLANT GARLIC ?
Choose a place to plant garlic that has 6 to 8 hours of full sunlight per day. Prepare the soil by mixing 50% compost and 50% manure. It has to have good drainage and you can add mulch as well. Place the seeds in the ground 6 to 8 weeks before the first fall frost. 2 to 3 feet apart from each other and 6 inches deep. Garlic requires very little water.
Garlic seeds go into a dormancy period. They need cold weather to grow into bulbs. It has to have at least 40 degrees F for 8 weeks. They have time to form roots. but not the top growth. By early spring the bulbs wake up from the dormancy and start growing foliage then, comes the bulbs. When the summer is in full the plant stop growing and it is time to harvest them. Wait until the bulbs are big.
HOW TO PLAN
Garlic can be planted in the soil or in containers.
When planting in the ground, make a whole in the ground 6 inches deep. and 3 feet apart .
The same process in the containers. Place the seeds in the hole. Add soil . Add fertilizer. Mix the soil well Cover the seeds with a lot of soil. Water them with small amount of water. Place the container in a a sunny place. Enjoy growing garlic. Watch them grow.
