Lantana is a perennial beautiful flower in zones 9 – 12 that attracts birds, bees, and butterflies. It comes in many colors. It is called a pollinator. It can live with very little water. It does well in many soils and grows well in containers and plants. All parts of the lantana plant are consider harmful to humans, pets and livestock. It is consider an invasive plant in Florida.

Growing Lantana from cutting is a very easy way to propagate the flower. It is very easy. Look at the Lantana plant. Take some 4 to 6 soft wood cuttings. Make sure the cuttings are green and soft. It is better if the cuttings have no flowers just leaves. Cut the leaves from the bottom half of the stem cuttings to expose the nodes, which is where new roots will form. The new cuttings can be dipped in rooting hormone. It is not necessary. It grows well. It can grow to be 3 to 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It takes 3 to 4 years to get to full maturity.

Get a container fill it up with soil. Add a layer of compost. Place the cuttings in the container. 2 cuttings. Add some water. Keep it moist all the time cover them with a clear layer to keep the plant warm and moist creating a green house effect. Place the container in a place with bright indirect sunlight. It will take 6 weeks to develop roots. Once the new cuttings have roots. They can be moved to a permanent sunny spot. They are beautiful. It is very nice to watch birds and butterflies circle around them. Enjoy them.
