HOW TO GROW PEAS FROM SEEDS IN THE COLD WEATHER

Peas are very sweet and easy to grow. They are annual plants and consider a cold season crop. Peas are very good for you. They have nutrients: protein, fiber, and vitamins( C, K, A, and B complex ). They help the digestive system. They also help lower the risk of chronic diseases. They have antioxidants that protect the body.

HOW TO GROW PEAS FROM SEEDS

Growing peas in container or growing in the ground is very easy. Soak the seeds in warm water for a day. take a container fill them with nutritious soil. Make a hole in the soil. Drop a seed in each hole. Add a layer of compost. Water it. Place it in a sunny area. Watch it grow. Enjoy it.

It will take 2 weeks to germinate the seeds once you plant them. The soil temperature should be 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the plants moist. Water them once a week. It requires an inch of water. Peas are vine plants. They need a trellis for support to grow well. They grow vertically. Peas plants grow 6 to 8 feet tall. It takes up to 2 months for the pea plant to have fruits.

WHEN TO HARVEST PEAS

Peas can be harvested 2 months after planting them. or 20 days after flowering. The pods have to be plump and full. Wait until the seeds are round and plum inside the pod. It is always better to cut them with a pair of scissors. The more you harvest the more they produce. Pick them in the morning. Do at least twice a week. If they are not picked the peas will go to seeds and the plant will stop producing them.
