HOW TO GROW EGG PLANTS FROM SEEDS IN CONTAINERS

Egg plant is a vegetable that is very easy to grow. It takes up to 3 months to be ready to eat. It has many minerals and fiber. It is good for the brain and the heart. It has antioxidants.

HOW TO GROW

Get a container 8 inches by 8 inches and 4 inches deep. Fill the container with good fertilized starting mixed soil. Add the seeds 2 inches apart 1/2 inch deep. Press the seeds down gently. Add a layer of compost. Add water. keep the container moist all the time. Place them in a sunny place. After 7 days the seeds will start germinating.

TRANSFER THEM FROM SEEDLING TO PLANTS

It will take 3 weeks for the seedlings to get ready to be transplanted. Wait until they have at least 4 leaves and are 3 inches tall. When they are ready transfer them to a big container. They are ready to be moved to individual containers. Move them very gently. One seedling to a new pot. Add some compost to every pot. Water them. Place them in a sunny area to get at least 6 hours of direct sun daily. The new seedlings are growing individually. They are plants now. Keep them watering them. They need to stay moist all the time.

TRANSFER TO THEIR FINAL DESTINATION

After two months in these smaller individual pots the growing plants are ready to be transfer to their final location a 5 gallon container. It has soil and compost. Take the eggplant plant and gently transplant it in the new larger container. Water it very well. Keep it moist all the time. Place it in a sunny place. After 55 days the flowers will star to come out. After 70 days the fruit will start appearing. Place some sticks around the plant to hold the plant up. The fruits will continue to grow. After 85 to 90 days it is time to harvest the eggplant.

Harvest the eggplant when the skin of the fruit is purple, shine, dark, and glossy. Cut the fruit from the plant. Leave the stem in the egg plant. It will last longer. Enjoy it.
