HOW TO GROW POTATOES IN POTS
It is very easy to grow potatoes. Potatoes are a nightshade tuber roots starchy vegetable. They are consumed around the world. it is consider a staple food in many places. HOW TO GET POTATOES TO SPROW ?
Get some organic potatoes from a local store. Place the potatoes is a brown bag. Place the bag with the potatoes in a light place. After a few weeks the potatoes will start sprouting. It gets eyes. Then, the potatoes are ready to be planted. Cut the potatoes into 2 pieces, and plant them.
HOW TO PLANT THEM
Take a large deep pot. fill it up with fertilized soil. Wet the soil before placing the potatoes in. Place the sliced potato deep down in the pot with the sprouts up. Cover them with a thick layer of compost. Water the new plant. keep the plant wet. Plants like water. Place them in a sunny spot.
WHEN DO PLANTS GERMINATE
The potatoes will start germinating after a couple of week. the plant will start growing. It gets leaves stems and flowers. The eating part of the plant are the large tubers that grow inside the soil. Potato is a summer crop. It needs 6 to 8 hours of direct soil daily . Potatoes like sandy porous soil. It likes a lot of water It needs to be fed nutrients at once a month. Add a layer of compost to keep the plants happy. Keep adding a layer of soil to help the plant to grow.
HOW TO HARVEST POTATOES
It will take 80 to 90 days to harvest them. You will up to 6 potatoes from each plant. It could take longer to grow sometimes up to 4 months. Once the potatoes are big enough you can dig them out from the soil. Midway after you have plant the potatoes plants start to flower. It gets a white flower. Once the flowers die you can start harvesting. Harvesting is done once the whole plant dies.
HOW TO STORE POTATOES?
Potatoes can also be harvest after 4 months. Those potatoes can be storage. keep them in a dry place for 2 weeks. that will help them to develop a strong skin. Then, the potatoes will be storage for a long time. Wash the potatoes only when you are ready to cook them. Enjoy them.
