HOW TO GROW TUMERIC INDOORS AT HOME
Turmeric is a very easy tropical plant to grow. It is part of the ginger family. It likes hot, humid and wet. It is used for many ailments. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory plant. It is used as a spice in many dishes. it has a strong yellow color.
Get some fresh turmeric from a local market or nursery. Place the turmeric in a bowl full of water. Leave the Turmeric in the water for a couple of days. The water will wash away the chemicals that some companies spray the turmeric with to avoid sprouting on the shelves. It will also start sprouting and get it ready to plant it. Once you see some sprouting it is ready to be planted.
Choose a container. Fill it with fresh fertilized free drained crumbling not compact soil. Wet it. Burry the rhizome an inch or 2 underneath the surface. Cover the rhizome with a thick layer of compost. Turmeric likes lots of food. Pat it gently. Wet it well. Turmeric likes lots of water. Place it in a warm place near a sunny place. Turmeric likes hot temperature above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Watch it grow. Enjoy it.
After a few weeks, the leaves will start appearing. When it is big enough it will be time to transfer to a bigger container or a box, or the ground. Turmeric will grow up to 12 inches. it has long leaves.
Harvest the Turmeric after the plant is completely death. The rhizome gets all the nutrients from the plant. Dig up the rhizomes by hand very carefully. It comes up a big piece. It has two clear parts. One the rhizome and the other the roots. Break them easily. Enjoy it. It can be stored in a box for a few months.
