HOW TO GROW THYME FROM SEEDS?
Thyme is an perennial herb. It belong to the mint family. It originated in the Mediterranean region. the leaves of thyme have thymol very volatile component. It is used as a condiment. There is its oil. Thyme has antiseptic properties. It is used in mouthwashes. It has a strong scent.
It grows well in a sunny place and, a well draining sandy soil with a PH of 7. Once you have thyme seeds get a tray with a lid. Fill the tray with soil. Water the tray. Wet the soil before you put the seeds. You want the seeds in the tray. Place the thyme seeds on top of tray with soil. Cover the tray with a layer of compost. press the soil down. Cover the tray to keep the seed warm.
Place the seeds in a warm sunny place. After 21 days the seedling will germinate. keep watering the tray. Keep the tray moist and warm not wet. Thyme can thrive with very little water. The plants will keep developing and growing.
Once they are big. It is time place them in the ground or in containers. Plant each thyme plant 2 inches apart. When planting thyme make sure it is a sunny place.
Thyme needs 6 to 8 hours of bright light daily. Once you have planted they will grow beautifully. It will take a year for thyme to get stablished before You can pick the leaves. Thyme grows from June to September. Thyme can last up to 5 years. It is very important to prune it. Watch it grow. Enjoy it.
